THREE MONTH COLIC

3 month colic is a common problem that effects up to 35% of healthy infants age ranging 3 weeks to several months old and it occurs as an occasional problem for another 40%. There are many reasons for the cause and often is a combination.

The rectal tube is used for treating one of the most usual causes which is accumulated gas in the end part of the baby’s colon and the sphincter that refuses to release gas properly. The colon’s nervous system itself is not evolved enough to do so independently.

The rectal tube is therefore releasing the gas, sorting out the problem where the pain simply goes away. The biggest obstacle in tackling this problem is the parent’s fear of the baby developing a restrictive reflex of ‘opening’ their bowels. Worry not – as although some paediatricians prefer to use the traditional ways this is an easy and quick solution.
